Navchandi Pooja is a highly revered and powerful Hindu ritual dedicated to Goddess Durga, primarily performed to seek her blessings for strength, prosperity, peace, and removal of obstacles. This Pooja involves the chanting of the Navchandi Path, which is a set of nine chapters from the Chandi Path, invoking the Goddess in her various forms to bring divine protection and spiritual growth to the devotee. It is typically performed during auspicious occasions and is believed to bring immense power and divine grace into one’s life.

Shlokas to Perform During Navchandi Pooja

The primary focus of the Navchandi Pooja is the chanting of the Navchandi Path. This includes reciting nine chapters, which praise Goddess Durga in her Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Maha Saraswati forms. Some key shlokas include:

  1. Maa Durga’s Invocation (Durga Stuti):
    “ॐ देवी चण्डिका प्रसीद। प्रसीद देवि चण्डिका॥
    महाक्रूरी महाक्रूरी महाक्रूरी महाक्रूरी॥”

(A prayer to invoke the divine blessings of Goddess Durga for protection.)
  2. Shanti Shloka:
    “ॐ द्यौरग्निर्वायुर्वसुर्नौमः॥”
(Reciting the Shanti Shloka to ensure peace and harmony during the ritual.)
  3. Mahakali Stuti (Praise for Goddess Kali):
    “ॐ क्लीं कालिकायै नमः।”
(This mantra invokes Kali, the fierce form of Maa Durga, for strength and destruction of negative energies.)
  4. Mahalakshmi Stuti:
    “ॐ महालक्ष्म्यै नमः।”
(To invoke Goddess Lakshmi for wealth, prosperity, and abundance.)
  5. Maha Saraswati Stuti:
    “ॐ ऐं महाक्रूरी महाक्रूरी महाक्रूरी महाक्रूरी॥”
(This shloka is dedicated to Saraswati, Goddess of wisdom and knowledge.)

The recitation of the Navchandi Path (a compilation of nine chapters) takes a considerable amount of time, often taking several hours to complete depending on the number of repetitions of the chapters and shlokas.
